Spreacombe Gardens

Family-run self-catering holiday homes in north Devon near the Exmoor Dark Sky Reserve

Spreacombe Gardens

Full Description

Welcome to Spreacombe
.
We have 6 well equipped cottages to sleep 4 or 5 (groups of up to 26 can be accommodated) in a hidden, wooded valley. Whilst only minutes from the coastal village of Woolacombe, the valley setting affords us dark skies and good star gazing opportunities with very little to no light pollution. Our converted barn activity room is great for group talks or larger group meals. Please enquire.

Activities in the Area
.
STAR GAZING
We have dark skies here and are close to Exmoor National Park, itself designated an International Dark Sky Reserve. Hire a telescope and you might be surprised by what you see.
.
BEACHES … Long sandy beaches within 10 minutes drive. Woolacombe was again awarded a nest beach award this year.
.
NATURE / BIRDWATCHING … Located just off the beaten track we are often treated with visits from hare, deer, woodpecker, buzzards to name a few. Bring your binoculars, walk around our estate and watch quietly
.
WALKING… The local cliff paths are stunning and of course we have the long beaches and public footpaths across fields or just walk around the trails on our estate.
.
CYCLING… About 10 minutes from Spreacombe is the off road Tarka trail. This heads some 30 miles to Meeth so there is a distance for everyone with cafes length way.
.
SIGHT SEEING… Head to Exmoor National Park – a designated dark sky reserve – take a boat trip to the Lundy Island Nature Reserve or wander to one of our local picturesque villages for a Devon Cream Tea.
.
FISHING… Ilfracombe is a working harbour. It’s from here that you can experience a sea fishing trip or stay on dry land and buy some of the freshest locally caught fish.
