Beckleshele

Full Description

Escape to Beckleshele, a unique 4* holiday cottage for 4 guests set off the beaten track at 1400′ high in the wild unspoilt moorlands of Weardale.

It is situated in the Durham Dales and surrounded by the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Geo Park. Walkers, cyclists, dog owners, bird watchers, geologists are all welcome and can relax, chill out and enjoy the tranquillity and magnificent views after their days exertions.

Are you looking for somewhere wild, remote, peaceful, where you can rediscover the simple pleasures of the great outdoors? Experience a different world at our converted lead miners cottage, Beckleshele, which is reported to be the site of the highest (1400 feet) of all the Weardale Norman summer hill farms introduced in the mid 1200′s. It is surrounded by high moorland, is close to the Weardale Way and Killhope Lead Mining museum and is accessed via a private farm track.

The property has been carefully and thoughtfully renovated to a high standard with ground floor bedrooms in the old cow byres and an upstairs lounge with spectacular views through the old hayloft door.

The front door opens into a spacious and well equipped country style kitchen with a dining area and an open fire to make the winter evenings even cosier. (Logs and coal are provided).

There are two bedrooms. One with a double bed and ensuite shower room and one twin bedded with a separate bathroom. Additional occasional sleeping is provided with a double size sofa bed in the lounge.

Upstairs is a large comfortably furnished lounge enjoying stunning views both to the south and east down the dale.

Beckleshele is a non smoking cottage.

We look forward to welcoming you.
